We've been working on improvements to Karaoki and PCDJ.COM have now opened the latest beta copy for public distribution.
Remember beta versions may have undiscovered bugs, exercise caution if choosing to run a beta version at a live gig.
If you already have a licensed verison of Karaoki this will replace it with the beta copy. This does NOT class as an activation, you will NOT need your license code. To return to the retail version of Karaoki - uninstall the beta, then install from your original disc or from our
UPDATES page.

New case and search
This version has the new faster search and case loading, the cases are
stored is a new format, Karaoki will import your existing cases, to do
this you need open each case one at a time, the case will then be
converted into the new format. Your old cases will be left intact until
you delete them. You will NOT be able to search until your old cases
have been imported/converted. Faster loading will only happen once the
case has been converted (loaded at least once).
Importing songs
Karaoki no longer reads ID3 tags as the songs are imported, as most KJs
dont use ID3 and its slow when importing cases . You can retrieve the
tags by scanning using the Scan case using naming convention case
menu option and selecting Extract ID3 Tag from the Extraction Method
dropdown list.

This build can also play video files in the main karaoke player. Karaoki
doesnt install any video codecs, so if you want to play video files
you MUST install them yourself. I have had good results using the free
ffdshow codecs, although it can be time consuming setting it up
correctly and if using win7 you will also need the
Win7DSFilterTweeaker._3.2.exe program to disable win7s default codecs as
these do not work well with karaoki. If the codecs are not installed
correctly or missing karaoki WILL crash if you try to play a video
format that has not got a correctly functioning codec.
The Manual is now very out of date and must be updated, however if you
have been using karaoki you should not have to many problems using the
new version.

Improved; case loading and searching for large cases, case file format

Karaoki will automatically import old style cases, however cases must
be opened once before they can be searched.
Searches should be approx. 20 times quicker.
