fit out new Fino’s nightclub in Sunderland.
Following on from Buffalo
Joes’ nightclubs in Newcastle and Glasgow, Computer DJ was asked
to fit the new Fino’s nightclub in Sunderland with the same
PCDJ setup.
A DAC3 controller, 17”
touch screen and custom 4U P4 3GHz rackmount computer system was recommended
and fitted. The new 4U rackmount keeps things cool, with front mounted
temperature displays for the hard drives and processor giving peace
of mind. Even after a night of pumping tunes in the hot club, the
processor was sitting at a cool 37 deg.C.
The DJ’s Ray and
Phil loved the DAC3 and touch screen combination. Even the club owner
was pulling random lovely ladies into the DJ booth to show them how
quickly he could find a track!

DJ Review
PCDJ what can I say.
A huge break through in DJ technology which has drastically changed
the way DJs work weather a mobile DJ of a full on club DJ.
Being part of the Light
bar in Scunthorpe from an early stage Scott Slingsby the owner decided
he wanted a computer installed which would take care of the music
before the DJ started early doors and also for the DJ to use, logs
the music which has been played, easy to update. We decided on the
PCDJ install rack mount computer. The light bar is a no expense spared
venture and we only wanted the best. The DJ box consists of a Cloud
CXM modular mixer, Denon 6000 CD player and the pcdj install rack
mount computer along with PCDJ Red, DAC 3, and a touch screen monitor.
Early doors in the club
is great with pcdj the manager simply loads a play list up for 5 minutes
and that’s it for 2 hours nothing to worry about. Either on
shuffle mode of in order as the play list was set up.
As a professional DJ
I work 7 nights a week up and down the country playing regular residencies
ranging from student nights to main room commercial dance in nightclubs
across the UK in Scunthorpe, Lincoln, Leeds, & Huddersfield. PCDJ
is my main choice over CD’s and Vinyl. I my self carry around
a top spec laptop, DAC 3 & PCDJ FX. Such a great piece of kit
once you know how to use it. Especially the DAC 3.
I love the loop editor.
Absolutely fantastic, as long as your cue point is spot on so is your
loop. This makes life so much easier and makes mixing radio edits
in and out as easy as mixing a 12” mix. The break function is
very useful as well as the “CP” Cue Point button which
can be used as a hot start button. Finding songs is a breeze just
type in the artist or song title and within seconds you have found
what you want (As long as you have it on your hard drive).
I would recommend PCDJ
and to any DJ. It makes life so much easier. You don’t have
to carry endless boxes or case logics full of cd’s or Vinyl.
It is such a powerful program packed full of useful bits.
When you are working
you always get the one cleaver Mr know it all who claims to be a dj
and notices you are DJing off a computer and comes out with the comment
“Your not a DJ where’s your decks” So before people
make judgment make sure you try the program. You will be amazed. This
is the future get with it.
Personal Tips.
- Organize your music well for example into categories such as 60’s,
70’s, 80’s, 90’s, funky House, RnB etc.
- BPM and Gain scan all you songs
- Take a few back up Audio CDs as PCDJ could crash on the very rare
occasion
- Make a back up copy of your music hard drive (Perfectly legal
if you have a Digital DJ License) There’s nothing worse than
your hard drive going on you and loosing thousands of songs. Believe
me it happens!
- Keep your computer healthy defragment it regularly, use a good
virus program.
- Get a digital DJ license
I have recently purchased
a Digital DJ license from the PPL and strongly agree with obtaining
music legally and owning an original copy.

FLEMMING
‘At
last a perfect solution for the 21st century DJ. I’ve been struggling
with my lap top for the past few years, now I needn't worry about
over heating and damaging my computer. The must have tool for any
serious DJ’

John
Flemming has just started using the recently updated gigging
computer system from Computer DJ. After getting a demo and even
being challenged to drive over the case in his car, John has
been hooked.
“It’s a clever
idea, no matter what computer manufacturer you use out there,
none of them are really good enough for clubs,” explained
John. I’m always worrying about my laptop, so it’s
good to get a purpose built system. I can’t believe they
told me to drive my car over it, and I’m gonna do it!
“I’ve been really
ramming it hard with Ableton and it hasn’t tripped up.
I even left it on all night with it running on a loop with loads
of processing on. I also left all my studio gear on purposefully
as it gets really hot in there. I woke up in the morning and
it was still going strong, and wasn’t even warm.
“You just turn up
to gigs, open the case, plug in and go. I used to have to plug
in loads of stuff like the soundcard, fans and all that crap,
but with the 00DJ it’s not just a laptop in a case, they
really thought about it. There’s a soundcard, power supply
that works all over the world, and it even has a touch-screen.
I was a bit apprehensive about this at first, but you don’t
need space for a mouse and it works perfectly.”
The 00DJ is a custom built
portable computer system with touch-screen technology and super
cooling system. It also has finger-print unlocking technology
and makes your software system hard-wearing enough to take on
the road and even into the hottest clubs.
The
00DJ starts at around £2000 and is available now. For
more information, visit www.computerdj.net or call 01482 319
700.
